The other thing that I have noticed is that it doesn't seem to hold the charge for very long, but it is OK for quick use in smaller areas. When I want to be more thorough, I still use a regular broom or vacuum to get the job done. I typically just use this for quick clean-ups, so this is not that big of a deal for me. One thing I have noticed is that the suction is not great, so you sometimes have to go over the same area a few times to get everything up. Since it's so easy to use, I even let my six year old use it every now and then and when she does, she actually thinks chore time is fun! I also love that I don't have to mess with a dust pan when "sweeping" the kitchen. I love that it is lightweight and portable. I don't have time to do a thorough vacuuming on a daily basis, but this is great for quick pick-ups to keep things looking nice, and it does a great job with dog hair! With two kids and a dog, I find that the floors in the kitchen and family room, which are our "high traffic" areas get messy on a daily basis. My parents gave us the Dirt Devil Rechargeable Broom-Vacuum as a Christmas gift. Maybe objects need to be more rigid and not flat? Overall, no impressed and I definitely wouldn't buy this for my home. I got most of it up that way and then resorted to packing tape to pick up the stragglers. I finally gave up and tried using a regular broom. I turned it around to see if it was jammed and it all looked clear so I tried over and over again and nothing happened. I ran it over the carpet again and again but the broom simply wouldn't pick anything up. Let's just say I was lucky if it even picked up an eighth of those little circles. I grabbed the Dirt Devil and went to work. So being lowest in the order of hierarchy in the office, I was asked to clean it up. The hole puncher exploded upon opening and little paper circles went flying everywhere. One day our 3 hole punch got jammed and someone decided that it would be a great idea to just open it up right on the desk versus over a garbage can. Shame it doesn't have any other tools but I'm sure I can resolve that with spares. We have the Dirt Devil broom at work and this thing does not work. What a pity though that it doesn't have an extendable handle - this would make an excellent little "Junior," upright - it has an 8 metre length cord and a built in push out upholstery brush. It also has a single roller wheel underneath that makes it easy to go along carpets or stairs. However, what I do like about it is that the stretch hose out the back cuts the brush roll as soon as the hose is taken out. Having just used it, it is actually ok despite being Chinese made and typically with the motor under the handle, the main handle gets hot in just a couple of minutes. Anyway, she gave me a virtually new Dirt Devil (not the same as the U.S sadly) "Handy Cyclonic" mains corded hand vac. Well today I had a friend over for tea and she is emigrating to the U.S She isn't taking anything with her, household appliance wise and has already passed her Dyson DC16 over to her mother who likes it. and am selling off the machines I don't use. I'd sell it along with a Red hand Vac and a matching toy vac. If anyone is interested in the Can Vac, stright suction attachments. So it went to the trash and again was something I was going to order new from Royal. I have the Can Vac in Red that was in that line up. Would take it out there every weekend to clean up. I had 2 rugs out there and wicker furniture with cushions. When I had my older, 2 story house, with a Front porch. Always regret that I did NOT order the attachments from Royal. It will clean most short nap rugs very well, steps, and does a great job on hard floors too. Had an a one room apt for one year, with a 5x7 rug. I have the Same Red Model that Brian has pictured.
